A large ministerial delegation to visit Al Hoceima


A ministerial delegation from the government of Saad al-Din al-Othmani headed towards the city of Al Hoceima, which has been living for nearly seven months in a social crisis after the killing of fish seller Mohsen Fikri Tahna in a garbage collection container in late October last year.

The high-level ministerial delegation includes mainly Interior Minister Abdulwafi Laftit, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests Aziz Akhnoush, Health Minister Lahcen al-Wardi, and Minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water Abdelkader Amarah.

The delegation also includes Minister of Culture and Communication Mohammad Al-A'araj, Minister of Education and National Education, Vocational Training and Higher Education and Scientific Research Mohammad Hassad and Afilal Supervisor of the State with the Minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water, and Ali Al-Fassi Fihri, Director-General of the National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water.

The government delegation went to Al Hoceima this morning, days after the government announced that it would take down economic and development projects on the ground in response to the demands of the Moroccan rural population.

The official move comes after the meeting between the Minister of the Interior and the majority government parties a week ago, and issued recommendations to respond to the demands of the protesters within the existing and new projects, especially the project "Lighthouse of the Mediterranean" launched by King Mohammed VI, while raised the comments of some of the majority leaders in the same meeting, which Accusing some of the popular movement leaders of Hoceima of secession and receiving financial support from abroad, has caused much controversy.

The statements prompted Al-Hoceima and others to carry out a general strike last Thursday, which the protesters described as successful, followed by a mass protest called by the Popular Movement Committee in Al Hoceima.

The protestors called for unprecedented implementation of the demands of the rural population at the social, economic and development levels, including the demand for the abolition of militarization, with sharp criticism of the government in response to accusations of secession. The leaders of the rural movement announced their readiness to sit at the table Dialogue with the state on the basis of the document demanded demands, in order to find a way out of the congestion known to the region
